BC Hydro

  • Performed a competency analysis of positions in the Corporate Quality Assurance Department. Defined performance outcomes and performance gaps, conducted a learner and work environment analysis and identified performance solutions that enabled the manager to produce an effective training plan.
  • Managed the design and development of the Meter Technician Training Program, a 3.5 year program that has been purchased by many other utilities in North America and Australia.
  • Managed the design and development of the Cableman Training Program, an apprenticeship program that enabled learners to build their knowledge, practical skills and crew experience to industry gold standards. It included coaching skills training for journeymen. Other trade groups in BC Hydro as well as other utilities used it as a model for their training programs.
  • Developed the Managing Trades Training Programs Guide for internal managers responsible for managing training development projects.
  • Developed and delivered a customized coaching skills workshop for journeymen who mentor apprentices and others in on-the-job training. It was delivered to over 600 trades people.
  • Performed in-depth job and task analysis of the utility electrician position. The analysis was distributed to all Canadian utilities by the National Utility Sector Training organization which is a joint utility management and IBEW initiative.

  • Developed a training plan for the Pakistan Snow and Ice Hydrology project to enable local engineers to operate and maintain the project upon its completion.
